As a mom of 4 boys, my main concern is what are they to young for. In today's society, our children are growing up faster and its harder to limit what they see, do and know. As a parent I try and hope to succeed in keeping my child a child as long as possible. I hope that with this blog I can help you and you can help me to discover and think about, what are our kids to young for.
Wow! I can't imagine raising 4 boys. You really have your hands full. I know women in Belize who have 18 children and the dynamics in those families are just amazing. Personally, I've always been more concerned about what my children (I have two girls) do with what they know than trying to keep them from knowing. We do "what ifs" to discuss uncomfortable situations. Example: "What if a boy took you on a date and drove you into the woods. What would you do?" This helps them process emotions and gets them thinking about how they can take care of themselves. Best wishes with your boys!

ReplyDeleteHi, Tontia
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! You have a beautiful looking family. I can relate to your concerns of raising children today. Even though my son is 23 years old. I remember how hard it was being a single parent prior to getting married (times have definitely changed since then). But, one thing I never....did was give-up on being the best mom I knew how to be. There are so many negative vices designed to lure our children into unhealthy peer pressure. Children are too...involved in acting and doing adult things instead of being just being a kid (having fun & imagination). The problem is parents aren't spending enough quality time with their children, not to mention the fact that they allow others to teach their kids right from wrong instead of taking responsibilities themselves. That's my 2 cents!:)
